The summer is over

And by the summer being over i mean summer term is over. I am finally done with classes and finals for another 6 months. not only that i have 3 weeks before i even start working. this is a very well deserved break. this term has been quite possibly the busiest 10 weeks of my life. definately worth it though. pretty soon all my rush flyers will be all over cmapus, the hero campaign is right around the corner and my tshirt design will be all over the place. i love doing marketing. but quite possible the best thing is the RUGBY TEAM IS FINALLY REINSTATED. we got the letter the other day giving us official notice even though we have known all summer. So this is great in this weekends tourny ill be able to weaqr drexel colors again in the first time in two years. might not be exciting to you but rugby is my life so that is the one thing that helps keep me sane. kinda wierd because you have to be insane to play. haha.

so here is my fall schedule:

Date Against Home or Away
9-Sep Media Tournament Away (Fairmount)
16-Sep University of Pennsylvania

23-Sep -
29-Sep St. Joseph's Away (7 PM, A/B Sides)
7-Oct York College Away
14-Oct St. Joseph's Home (7 PM, A/B Sides)
21-Oct Lock Haven Away (A/B Sides)
TBD Playoffs

a few more things to clear up but the home games are amazing. we had three under the lights games last spring....we had more people come out to the game then basketball game and we werent even part of drexel at that point.

oo and my new house is awesome. i live in the compound known as the 530s. We are located on 35th st between brandywine and haverford. Its four 6 bedroom houses that share a huge common deck and a huge basement that comes equipped with a handy dance pole to dance on. i dont think i need to say more other than i only pay 350 rent, i have awesome roommates, and i live in the best house off campus.

been so long

wow so okay i havent written on thsi blog in forever. i have been so busy with everything. give you an update on whats happened to keep me like this:

  • im taking sociology as an accelerated night course....so now i have night class from monday - thursday
  • midterms were hell
  • Pikes Rush Committee- had to get all the flyers made up for rush....now getting them printed up and posted around campus
  • Pike Hero Campaign - finally got the tshirt design, now finding a place to get them made for cheap
  • Rugby - i cant make the practices due to night class so i have been conditioning and working out on my own the best i can
  • I am moving into my new house this weeked.
  • I have final exams this week and next week
  • Finding a job for co-op....why does it have to be so hard this time???!!?!
  • list goes on.....

even with all this i have been having alot of fun. i really enjoy being busy all the time. it helps because when i do have a chance to relax and hang out with my friends, its so well deserved and seems like something very mundane (like watching a movie) is the greatest thing ever. here are some the things:

  • Zoo trip with Phi Sig
  • OZZFEST - best day of the whole summer, hit the mosh pit, heard so many bands, with so many of my great friends.....i want to to go see Red Hot Chili Peppers in October
  • White Water Rafting with Pike this past weeekend - 16 miles, beautiful view, not too sunny, and falling into a river is amazing
  • learning how to drive stick on a BMW
  • working out - its fun getting back into shape lol
  • alot of my friends had birthdays this summer so we amde sure they turned older right
  • Rugby got reinstated for the fall....hooray for playing under Drexel again
  • Pike won the Smythe Cup for the 3rd year in a row making us a legacy - this is awarded to the top chapters in the country for the fraternity at the national convention...we were one of 11 chapter who got it this time

i got a lot out. look for another post in a few days. peace out

July 11, 2006

its been awhile

the last three week flew by. just been busy with so many things. July 4th weekend was great. as i said in my last post 5 day weekends are awesome. i went down to my friends shore house outside atlantic city and spent the 4th in ocean city. it was great even worked on my tan ha. then my "vacation" was over. had to come back to drexel for class...

so class is going by pretty smoothly. sadly i have so much hw. i didnt even have this much when i was a freshman engineer. i am doing my best to keep up with everything got my first exam tommorow. but my days are hectic. i go to class, then work, then i go to the gym. by the time i get home i just shower, do my hw then hit the sack. i dont even know if my roommates even around. havent seen him in 3 weeks. every now and then it seems he stops in the house, food goes missing and a dish or two will show up.

this post is going to be a little i can tell. So i am part of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. There are plenty of fraternities and sororities on campus. They can be part of the IFC, Panhellenic, Big-C, there are two community service ones as well as many professional and honor ones. So you can participate in anyone for whichever reasons. One thing to remember is that how much you put in is how much you will get out. You dont need to be part of greek life to have fun on campus either. I didnt join till my freshman spring term, and it was to become more involved on campus and in the community. I do alot of community service with them as well as IFC and intermural sports. I am part of the Hero Campaign and just got appointed as the Advertising Chair for the Rush Committee. Currently im trying to get on the Pledge committee as well. so im quite busy with them. ill get more into this propaganda later though because it is too much for right now.

as for rugby (ruck me ruck you my blog title is a rugby thing. rucking is something you do in rugby). My next post will go into that as well. but summer 7's is going on so i need to play a little bit. im also a certified refferee so i should probably start doing that soon. sorry to run off but i got class right now. later

no more rain

So I started classes on Monday, along with my part time job as part of the DWC. Everything going pretty smoothly. I have friends in all my classes, my professors seem interesting so far. My one night class is s boring though. The teacher just keeps lecturing, and he does it off his tablet PC. So everythign he writes disappears off the screen pretty fast. On the plus side he puts everything from class as a pdf file on his website. So I just have to work on staying awake now. Monday through Thursdays for me are pretty busy now. I go to class to work, sometimes more class, then to the gym. After all that I go home do some work and sleep. Thank god I have Friday's off. This weekend is especially good because we don't have class (or work) Monday and Tuesday. Five day weekends are awesome.

amtrak must die

My parents were nice enough to buy me an amtrak ticket to get back to philly yesterday. my train was supposed to be there by 8:15. lucky for me it was 45 minutes late. so i didnt get to philly till after 11 last night. my buddy tim came to pick me up, and while waiting for me he played the lotto and won a $100. what a lucky bum haha. prolyl the highlight of the night though was getting a pizza with my buddy dan and then passing out on his futon all night. i had a pretty good sleep for being on a futon and no pillow. bah!

June 25, 2006

going back to the hood

the past few days at home actualyl went by smoothly with out any problems. no fights with parents or my sister. got to see the majority of my friends. got some stuff done along the way. i was sober lol. woke up and had nothing at all to do. but in 4 hours ill be on my way back to good old philly. i still need to get my textbooks and stuff in the morning though and then class starts. but so do does this here part time job giving me some cash to spend during the summer. this is truly my first summer away from all my friends from NY so i hope i dont lose touch with any of them. that and they better get off the couch and come down here. im going to clean and pack and then get the hell out of here. peace

tunage

hey guys whats going on. i just put in a music player on my blog.l its got 20 tracks on there. nice variety of music, there is on ecountry song on there. i dont know i thought it might be nice to have some music going on for people reading this. Well if anyone actually is reading it. I pretty much listen to anything and everything. i am not a big fan of some things like country music for example but ill give everything a chance. i wish i could put on some of the songs we sing after my rugby games on there....but you will just have to come to my games next year to witness those.

hope you enjoy the tracks, ill prolly change them at some point if i feel like it. most likely not cause i am a lazy bum

June 23, 2006

sober friday haha

as the title shows its been awhile and it feels good. i have cut down alot on my intakes of liquid bread. being home just shows me even more that you dont have to drink to have fun. go see a movie, get some food just hang out or bumming around with my friends is great. i got to see my cousins today for a bit. hopefulyl we get a chance to go out tommorow. after that i decided to go bother one of my best friends shawn at kohls. im glad i did because he got me some sandals on discount and i was in dire need of a new pair. he kept yeling he wanted to burn down the store though....

the only regret so far for coming home is some of my friends went to dorney park today. but whatever my cousins are going to come down during the sumemr and we are going to hit up Six Flags. I have fridays off during the summer so it should work out quite well. Still waiting on one of my boys to confirm he can get off of work to come to Ozzfest with me and some of my friends in philly. herbs, one of my fellow ruggers, goes to LBI alot and is going to teach me how to surf. Probable the biggest thing to look forward too is going to south carolina to the BMW School. They basically give you an M5 and teach you how to drive like a maniac, drifting, etc on a race track. My boy Robin needs someone to go with him and I cant wait. This summer looks like it has potential even though i am in class.

early morning

had a dentist appoinment at 9:30 am. my mom always finds a way to squeeze some appointments in for me everytime im home...and always early too. I dont mind the dentist tho and it was quick. no caviaties or anything. i still have my wisdom teeth, and the doc says they might cause me problems later but they might not. so it basically comes down to me if i want to get rid of them as of now. i already had 4 premolars pulled before i had braces years ago so im going to opt out for now.

i havent been to the gym since tuesday...and i didnt go alst week cause of finals. i need to get into better shape for myself and rugby. the past few weeks have definately shown great improvement so i hope the gym at the school being closed doesnt slow down the progress, but since im home im just going to go for a run then play some basketball.

home

so my friend drove me home, and he offereed to take me straight home. he lives in long island and im from westchester county if you know NY. to save him the hassle we figured prolly no traffic going into the NYC. wrong. stuck in traffic for ever. it would have been faster for both of us actualyl for him to drop me off at my house and he just head home afterwards. whatever we just pumped up the ipod and yelled at some of the city drivers. good times. he might come down to my house to teach me how to drive stick tommorow.

i lucked out at grand central tho and caught an express train home, only taking 30 minutes. it can take anywhere from 25 to 50 mintues usually. my mom made some barbeque for dinner and then i went off to my buddy's house for a night of video games, poking fun, and hitting up the diner late night. got to hang out with some people i hadnt seen since the sumemr before college so it was good times. three more days for me to get sick of being around the rents then i am back in philly

June 22, 2006

more money more problems

finally done with coop interviews! i only had five interviews but they were all awesome jobs. a few of them didnt pay as well as my last coop but i know the experience will be alot better and beneficial for my future. i did a little offroading in my buddys land rover on the way back from the interview. it was ritzy philadelphia suburbs so no one was around, and it was fun.

Co-op Interviews:
  • Miachel Baker Jr Inc - Engineering Firm...would be doing work for FEMA, flood maps and such...Center City
  • NWJ Management - Acquisitions job. i would get alot of travelling with this job, anywhere around the countrty...center City
  • Trauner Consulting Services - Consultant firm. great pay (including paid vacations, sick and personal days). only drawback is it might be a lil dull with the research but the experience gained with be sweet...center city
  • American Brokerage Services - basically be a life insurance broker, small company...good expericence not great pay...suburbs
  • Hancock Management Group LLC - its aquistions, they are small so i would get alot of resposibility. horrible pay. and its off in conshohocken. online they said no car needed. at the interview they said i would so scratch this job offer

i would really like to work for trauner or nwj but i have to wait like another week or two before i find out if i am getting a job offer. anyway my buddy is taking me home to new york, so need to clean up for now

i passed....

got my grades back for the term. i guess i should be happy but my gpa did go down. so its not good news for me when i need to keep my scholarship. i did do really well on my accounting final getting me a B in the class so i am thrilled about that. Three B's and a D. better a D then an F right? next term means alot for em so alot more studying is all i can do

June 19, 2006

im melting

Finals are finally over! but i have classes during the summer so i only get this week off. it wont be too hectic other then coop iinterviews, but i get to go home after wednesday and just hang out with some of my friends from back home. not really looking forward to class monday morning though...
